Our mission is to develop state-of-the-art microfluidic and nano techniques/approaches for cutting-edge research in biological science, forensic science, and biomedical engineering.

  • 07/10/2014, A patent has been filed.  “Methods and compositions for low-cost paper-based microfluidic devices integrated with nucleic acid amplification for disease diagnosis”, U.S. Provisional Patent (# 62/022,879). Filed on July  10, 2014.
  • 06/28/2014: Dr. Li received Outstanding Performance Award from UTEP ORSP.
  • 06/25/2014: A wax printer has been introduced into our Lab for paper-based device fabrication.
  • 06/24/2014: Dr. Li gave a presentation in Gordon Bioanalytical Sensors conference in Newport, RI.
  • 06/01-05/2014: Dr. Li was invited to chair a CSC confereence session about microfluidics and also gave an oral presentation at Vancouver. CSC (Canadian Society for Chemistry; http://www.csc2014.ca/ )
  • 05/28/2014: Our own clean room and microfabrication facility are fully functioning. It costs about $40,000.

  • 12/20/2013: Our collaborative research in pertussis study has been highlighted in UTEP Magazine (Centenial Kickoff Issue or Winter 2014 Issue, Page 42-43)!

  • 08/26/2013: A collaborated project with Prof. Chunqiang Li, Chuan Xiao, Igor Almeida, Wei Qian, and Mattias Fischer to study highly movable biological objects using hybrid microscopic methods has been funded by UTEP IDR2.

  • 08/13/2013: Our work about hybrid microfluidic system has been accepted as an ORAL presentation in the MicroTAS conference 2013, one of the most prestigious conferences in this field. There were ~1200 abstract submissions. Only less than 8.7% submissions were accepted as Oral presentation. Congratulations!
